Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35
In Kenya millions of people, livestock and wildlife are on the brink of death from the severe food and water shortage that has seized the land. Sky-rocketing prices of food and water mean that even the basic necessities for survival are beyond the reach of many people. Children are sent home from school hungry, unable to concentrate on their lessons due to severe malnutrition. Symbiotic relationships between people and the local wildlife have been destroyed as people cling to every precious drop of water in order to stay alive. Yet through this hardship, God's people remain 'joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. [They] Share with God's people who are in need.' Romans 12:12-13, and the church is growing!
The following is an extract from an email sent from our dear Brother Pastor Nicodemus reagrding the situation they face in Kenya, and the help that the church there needs to continue to show God's love to those around them.
"The situation in Kenya goes worse each day as the water shortage and food crisis keeps climbing the ladder each day, people are fleeing out of Kenya to neighbouring countries looking for pasture for their animals and food for their families. Right now the Government as introduced power rationing system because the dams that generate power have gone down terribly in water volume, we are seeing generators in use which are too expensive, industries have been affected and food prices have now gone up four times. Kenya needs much prayer. In our neighbourhood already five people have died of starvation!!"
Whilst the aid God has provided through Outreach Ministries has assisted to a limited degree in the immediate need, the Kenyan people desire to be self-sufficient: able to grow their own crops for food and income, and have access to clean drinking water through the digging of wells. We need your help in raising funds for this!
It is a privilege to see the way God is using these faithful brethren in growing His Kingdom: evangelising to the local people, sponsoring feeding programmes, caring for orphans, and administrating a christian school. They also desire to build a ministry to care for widows, as there are many. These ministries are drastically under-resourced and Pastor Nicodemus and his team live in daily faith that God will meet their needs and grow their work for His Kingdom. It is their constant prayer and ours that He would provide in all of these ways and " raise faithful men and women who have burdens and passions for the people of Kenya that we can have at least a monthly support for our families and the minstry."
PLEASE contact us if you feel God is convicting you to support those in Kenya. Your faithful prayers and any financial assistance would be much appreciated, and remember that with small offerings of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish Jesus fed 5000 people-Our God has the power to work miracles if we are faithful with the gifts he has blessed us with!
