India Floods

But now, this is what the LORD says-
 .....
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name;
 you are mine,
When you pass through the waters,
 I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you." Isaiah 43:1-2

The recent floods in Southern India have been described as the worst to ravage the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in 100 years. Significant loss of life, housing and livestock have the already poverty stricken flood victims with the daunting task of rebuilding their communities within the limitations of local infrastructure damage, food shortages and the ever-present risk of disease.

Kotipalli village, the home of Pastor Rao, his family and the orphaned children in their care, was on the brink of being engulfed by the rising floodwaters, but God in his grace and mercy protected them. The children's cries, the images of neighbouring villages sinking beneath the deluge, local people clinging for life to tree-branches and the imminent threat and ultimate eventuality of a complete breach of the nearby dam were the verbal pictures sent to us by Pastor Rao during the crisis. Fervent prayers from God's children in the UK, Italy and Australia were answered in a powerful way, and we rejoiced in God's protective hand over the villagers of Kotipalli, the only village in the area unaffected by the torrent.

Through this deliverance, God enabled those of Kotipalli village to bless those affected by the floods, sharing food, shelter and the Love of Christ with them.
